The transition into Senior management is always challenging – but the first hurdle for our Government Dept client’s staff is the gateway assessment – a high powered centre that must be passed before a rise in grade that will lead to further career progression.
With 2 roleplays, especially devised, trialled and rolled out each year, these blocks of assessments are closely monitored to ensure consistency of performance throughout, so that every participant gets an equal opportunity to show their capabilities.
A team of 6 are usually trained for these types of centre, with crib sheets for each exercise designed to keep the main points, must dos and emotional level changes clear and at the front of the roleplayer’s mind.
On some years, a roleplayer has also been incorporated into the group discussion element, adding urgency and a structured interruption to the process, to challenge the participants even further.
